Reviews for A-Level Tutors in Ottawa

5.0

Mrs H Crozier - Claire has provided online English language support to my son over the months leading to his GCSE exams this year. She quickly established a connection with him, clearly understanding the difficulties he was facing due to dyslexia and providing him with strategies to deal with the questions on standard GCSE papers. This meant he was so much more confident and prepared for the exams recently and is looking forward to finding out how well he has done in August.

R Qureshi - Ms Noor is an amazing maths tutor. I was failing maths before Ms Noor taught me but I managed to get an 8 for GCSE maths. She made me love the subject, and I never thought I'd say that! BEST TUTOR EVER!!!

S Dembowski - It is so hard to get my son to study, but Miss Noor is fantastic with him. She is patient and very likeable. He enjoys his weekly lessons with her.

Mrs L Barter - Highly recommended!! My son has gained so much confidence over the past months. It is lovely to see. Lessons have been specifically tailored to my son's interests, which has really captured his attention and focus. I'm so grateful.

Ling Morris - I cannot recommend this teacher highly enough! He is incredibly professional and has a great sense of humour, making learning a joy for the children. He has a remarkable ability to provide personalised enhancements tailored to each child's needs. We are not only extremely satisfied but absolutely thrilled with the progress our child has made under their guidance. He is a fantastic teacher deserving of the highest praise!

Sally Lewis - Tamsin tutored my home-schooled twins for two years, and we can't recommend her highly enough. She was able to tailor the tuition to their individual needs and made studying English fun and accessible. She also planned a curriculum that included cross-curricular elements, which really helped make our home school curriculum as broad and holistic as possible. Both kids enjoyed Tamsin's lessons and looked forward to them.

Hannah Munday - We asked Tamsin to tutor my daughter in the 6 months leading up to her GCSEs and we were really pleased with the progress she made. Her confidence, time management in the exam and exam technique all improved and Natalie enjoyed the lessons too.

Location
Home Tuition: Involves an A-Level tutor coming to your home in Ottawa to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the A-Level tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the A-Level tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the A-Level tutor is required to travel to your home, in Ottawa. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your A-Level tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your A-Level tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of A-Level tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group A-Level tuition in Ottawa depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.

A-Level Tuition
What are A-Levels?

Advanced level qualifications are known as A-Levels and are subject-based qualifications that can lead to further study, training, university or work.

Most 16 year old students will study three A-Levels over two years with the A-Level Exam now taken at the end of two years.

To begin an A-Level course, students will normally need at least five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 with at least a grade 7 in the subjects that they wish to pursue through to A-Level.

The Benefits of A-Level Tuition

An A-Level tutor has the opportunity to focus on the specific subjects and areas that a student may be struggling with. At school, a teacher can only give limited individual attention to each student, as there is limited classroom time available with the teacher required to meet the needs of the whole teaching group. An A-Level tutor can offer academic support to a student, if they have missed out on some of their learning, whether through illness, absence, a lack of understanding or a lack of effort. A short, direct and intensive course of lessons can have a profound impact on an A-Level student's performance and confidence. An A-Level tutor can add the polish, academic rigour and exam technique required to enable them to perform to their full potential in an exam situation.
