Reviews for A-Level Maths Tutors

4.9

Mr Hatter - Mark is an amazing tutor and helped both my kids with IB and GCSE

Mrs Cairns - Very helpful, clear and knowledgeable. Great communication with prompt learning sessions.

Dr Nuttall - Waheed taught my son for two years in preparation for his Science GCSE. Waheed not only helped my son to secure excellent grades in the subject, but also built his confidence as a student. Waheed turned out to be more than a science tutor to my son; he and his cousin, who also had lessons with Waheed, saw him as an inspirational role model. Through his teaching, Waheed was able to reinforce the importance of values such as hard work, and respect. My son, naturally a shy person, found an adult that he was at ease communicating with. Waheed was exceedingly flexible in providing additional lessons in the run up to the GCSEs, which was very useful in focusing preparation upon the individual papers. We will always be grateful for Waheed's efforts, and glad that we found such a wise and engaging teacher.

Dr Rachel Brown - My son had struggled with online learning during lockdown and emerged into his Year 11 with huge gaps in his knowledge and his confidence. As he is shy, he did not want to start learning with someone new, so it was always going to be a challenge for him to build a relationship in a short space of time via online teaching. Waheed did an incredible job of plugging the many gaps in his science knowledge, teaching him how to revise and organise himself but, more importantly, building his confidence and helping him overcome his mental blocks. In the period around his exams, Waheed tailored his timings and lessons to provide maximum support, and my son emerged with excellent results, despite science having been his weakest subject. Away from the actual learning, Waheed inspired my son with his warmth and care for him as a student, and I hope he's still available when my daughter is ready for her GCSEs.

Mrs Cyriax - A great tutor. His patience, teaching and encouragement greatly boosted my daughter's confidence and understanding for maths A Level. I could not recommend him enough.

Mr Mustafa - Ryan supported my son through his A-Levels. He provided clear structured lessons focussing on my son's needs and also instilled confidence that helped him improve from a difficult mock to an excellent final result. I highly recommend Ryan to anyone looking for a tutor.

Mrs Rudd - I am thrilled with the progress my son has made in maths, thanks to the outstanding tuition provided by Eileen. At the beginning of Year 12, my son was struggling at a Grade D, and was genuinely concerned about his academic future. However, after just four months of tutoring sessions, his grade has jumped to a Grade B already. One of the aspects that truly impressed me was how Eileen made complex concepts seem much more simple. Mrs Koorn Briscoe - When my son started out, his goal was to attain a B, yet he was operating at a D level with low confidence and apprehension about making mistakes. However, within a mere two months of receiving tuition, his performance has gone up to grade C, and he is frequently answering questions at a grade B level in the topics covered. Eileen's influence on my son's confidence is nothing short of remarkable. Finding Eileen and investing in lessons with her is a decision I will never regret as it has given my son support that neither his school nor his parents were able to provide. Amanda Barnes - I was really struggling to find ways to help my son with his science subjects when he was feeling demotivated and lacking in confidence. Paul has managed to create a plan for him over the summer which was engaging, clear and pupil-led. He understood exactly what was needed! Plus the video recordings of each lesson will be invaluable moving forward. Thank you Paul!

Linda Lo - Paul is an excellent tutor! My daughter is with him for a year. Paul was being referred to us by our guardian as our daughter had lost all her confidence in studying at her previous school. My daughter is not the type of pupil that whoever tutor you give her, she will listen. Finding a suitable tutor whom my daughter is willing to listen is vital important. Paul finds out the school curriculum (even I have no idea) and teaches my daughter. My daughter told me that Paul uses different teaching approaches with different pupils. With Paul, our daughter gets confidence in her studies, she loves Paul's lessons, and she gets academic rewards for previous term and this term! Thank you Paul!

Professor Jon Steed - Mike was a fantastic tutor with my eldest son, helping achieve top grades in Maths, Physics and Further Maths A-Levels. Results day was a very happy day in our household!

Mrs Williamson - A professional, experienced teacher.

Mr Baggaley - My son's maths has come on leaps and bounds in just a few weeks, evidenced by great marks at school. More than that, though, his confidence and passion for maths have really grown and he now wants to do the subject at A Level. Couldn't be happier with the teaching Susan has provided.

Twana Siddiq - Anne is a punctual and an experienced teacher. She always gives her best, and my daughter feels very comfortable with her teaching and high manners. I highly recommend her as a teacher for private tuition in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

Katherine Robinson - Dr Anne Davis is an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher. I'm studying GCSE Chemistry with her at the moment and I've found that her encouraging and non-judgemental approach is very motivating.

Mr Hennessy - Mei is an amazing maths tutor. I had her since my GCSEs, and she worked with me until the end of my A-levels. Her well-structured lessons and the variety of resources she provided me with ensured I was getting consistent exam practice which helped improve my confidence. She is so friendly and supportive, which made it really easy for me to ask questions, improving my understanding of the subject content. Additionally, she always ensured I understood the basics of each topic before allowing me to complete more difficult tasks. With all her support and encouragement, I managed to get an 'A' for A-level maths as well as securing a place at UCL in London in 2024. Thank you so much for all the help, Mei.

Ms Toro-troconis - Sarosh has been a great tutor. Thank you

Ms Wasson - Gary is patient and kind and I recommend him.

Jinan Khalique - James worked hard and provided my son Mustafa with all the help and resources he needed to ensure he achieved a grade 9. He was particularly great at knowing what examiners were looking for and helping him to maximise his marks.

Mr Jon Richardson - Garrett Cooke has tutored my son, a pupil at Reading School, in Maths and Physics (years 8-11 GCSE) and Maths (years 12-13 A-Level). My son achieved high grades in maths and physics at GCSE, and is currently predicted to achieve grade A in his A-Level maths. During the course of several years, I have come to appreciate Garrett's skills as a maths and physics tutor. He is reliable and organised and maintains professional standards. He works in a collaborative and friendly manner and is genuinely interested in my son's progress. He is familiar with the relevant curriculums and is able to explain complex ideas in a way my son can understand. In summary, I feel that Garrett has the qualities required of a successful maths and physics tutor, and I would recommend him for a tutoring position.

Richard - Thank you Chrissy, for your hard work in supporting my daughter in Improving all her college work. You are an all-around Tutor for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. This has really helped my daughter as she doesn't need to look for help anywhere apart from you. Your patience and commitment to supporting my daughter mean a lot to me.

Mr. Zacharias - Dear Aaron, I wanted to extend my extreme gratitude to you for the work you did with my son. We have seen a transformation in my son since he started working with you. He used to have a dark cloud hanging over him, and we have seen this lift and him grow in confidence and a positive mindset. He was actually looking forward to the Stats and Mechanics exam on Thursday and beaming when he came. We are so grateful we found you! THANK YOU!

Location
Online Tuition: Involves an A-Level Maths tutor on the platform of your choice to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Online Tuition: Allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the A-Level Maths tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your A-Level Maths tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of A-Level Maths tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between online, or small group A-Level Maths tuition depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
