Reviews for School Entrance Exams Tutors

5.0

Nicola Scrancher Wilks - We would recommend Benjamin for tutoring because our daughter has shown improvement and enthusiasm to do Maths now! Her class teacher also praised her for her perseverance and improved attitude to taking on Maths challenges. She likes Benjamin's teaching style and is keen to complete the work set to the best of her ability!

Charlie Braidwood - Benjamin has an open and honest approach with his tutoring, whilst making the lessons fun and engaging for the students. Our daughter looks forward to the lessons each week and the tailored challenges that Benjamin brings outside the classroom.

Mrs D Phillips - I just wanted to say once again how grateful we are for your support of Emma and all the kindness that you have shown her. Emma has always looked forward to her lessons with you and found them both fun and engaging. You have made a difference with her approach and confidence to her work and with her overall self-belief. You are a special tutor, and we have been so lucky to have found you. The teenage years are difficult, full of challenges and there is a lot of work involved in A levels. Emma has really valued your input during this part of her life and she is even more focused on her future and determined to find an interesting and fulfilling pathway ahead. Thank you, Frances. Wishing you good health and happiness for 2023. Kind regards Denise.

Mrs Barton - Francis is a highly productive tutor and got my 12 year-old boy on the right track after tremendous efforts. My son has been learning pretty much within a very short period of time. We hope to come back to him as soon as possible after a break.

Mrs C Storey - For over a year now, our son has been receiving weekly tuition from Amanda. During this time, we have witnessed his academic achievements and confidence grow from strength to strength. Amanda uniquely can help students flourish and build their confidence in all subjects. We especially admire how Amanda quickly learns what interests our son and will tailor his sessions to gain his interest and confidence with a calm, encouraging, gentle approach. We quickly noticed our son started to enjoy his lessons at school and developed the confidence to contribute more in class. We would have been unable to achieve this without the support and guidance from Amanda. Our son is now in year six and Amanda is able to support him with tutoring into secondary school. We have no hesitation in recommending Amanda to family or friends.

Mr Anderson - We feel incredibly fortunate to have selected Amanda for our 11+ preparation. My son really enjoyed his sessions and made rapid progress under Amanda's tuition.

Mrs Chettra-mann - Great tutor, helped my son immensely with his English as he had fallen woefully behind post covid. Now he's so much more confident in the subject thanks to Jeff!

Mrs Kopacz - My dughter is currenntly being tutored by Jeff through her A level in English Literature (aiming for A*). Jeff is a brilliant tutor, who is always well prepared for the lesson, thinking and planning ahead and open for questions from students and parents. What I (as a parent) like most is the fact that Jeff knows how to challenge my daughter so she can reach her potential. I was very impressed by the first lesson's assesment which Jeff prepared for her, (not taking my assesment for granted), and his detailed feedback. I truly recommend Jeff as a tutor.

Dr Nuttall - Waheed taught my son for two years in preparation for his Science GCSE. Waheed not only helped my son to secure excellent grades in the subject, but also built his confidence as a student. Waheed turned out to be more than a science tutor to my son; he and his cousin, who also had lessons with Waheed, saw him as an inspirational role model. Through his teaching, Waheed was able to reinforce the importance of values such as hard work, and respect. My son, naturally a shy person, found an adult that he was at ease communicating with. Waheed was exceedingly flexible in providing additional lessons in the run up to the GCSEs, which was very useful in focusing preparation upon the individual papers. We will always be grateful for Waheed's efforts, and glad that we found such a wise and engaging teacher.

Dr Rachel Brown - My son had struggled with online learning during lockdown and emerged into his Year 11 with huge gaps in his knowledge and his confidence. As he is shy, he did not want to start learning with someone new, so it was always going to be a challenge for him to build a relationship in a short space of time via online teaching. Waheed did an incredible job of plugging the many gaps in his science knowledge, teaching him how to revise and organise himself but, more importantly, building his confidence and helping him overcome his mental blocks. In the period around his exams, Waheed tailored his timings and lessons to provide maximum support, and my son emerged with excellent results, despite science having been his weakest subject. Away from the actual learning, Waheed inspired my son with his warmth and care for him as a student, and I hope he's still available when my daughter is ready for her GCSEs.

Russell King - Chris has been a revelation as our son's Maths tutor. He seems to transport him to an almost magical world of Maths, where complex ideas and methods are demystified, fun, and engaging. Our son has so much more confidence with his Maths since Chris started tutoring him, and listening to them bounce ideas off each other during their sessions is a joy. Chris explains things in many different ways as needed until fully understood. Our son appreciates and enjoys being tutored by Chris and has only good things to say about him after every session.

Mrs Illsley - Chris is an excellent Maths Tutor. He really understood my daughter and she engaged with him brilliantly. He made it creative and fun and she learned loads and thankfully passed. We would definitely recommend Chris.

Mrs J - Becky has tutored my daughters for three years. She is very intuitive with children and has an excellent ability to communicate and motivate. She is organised and structured but also fluid to help with any concerns the girls have regarding their school work. I reached out to her because they were below where they should be for their age in some topics, which was affecting their confidence. They are now where they should be for their age and above in some subjects, which is evidence of her ability as a teacher. I would highly recommend her.

Miss Bowen - Colin has been such a wonderful tutor over the past several months. He has really helped our son improve upon his Economics skills for his forthcoming A-Level examinations. Colin has been accommodating and flexible with timings. He genuinely wants our son to do well in Economics. We would not hesitate to recommend Colin 100% and thank him for all of his invaluable input and knowledge in the hours spent tutoring our son.

Dr Charlotte Kellaway - Tina has been a tutor for my 10-year-old daughter for the last nine months and has helped with her preparation for the 11+grammar school exam. Tina was quick to assess my daughter's strengths and weaknesses and identify areas where she needed the most support. She shows incredible kindness and patience when explaining difficult concepts, and my daughter always reported back to me that she explained things clearly in a manner that was easy to understand. Tina tutored my daughter for 1 hour sessions on a weekly basis and was able to cover a lot of material in that time. She did practice questions with her and gave helpful hints and tips about how to answer certain question styles. She also offered help in exam techniques. She has certainly boosted my daughter's confidence which was very much waning when she started! Tina was very flexible with tuition times and was able to offer extra sessions during the school holidays. I would certainly recommend Tina as a tutor for 11+ and hope to use her again in the future.

Mrs Mandy Walsh - During the lockdown period, my husband and I decided to appoint a tutor to work with our young daughter. We chose Tina on the basis of her experience and availability to work with us. Tina was always punctual for our Maths and English lessons, and had prepared worksheets in advance targeting relevant topics to the subject and our daughter's ability. Tina was extremely patient when we had technical issues on our end getting online. During lessons, Tina was very good at encouraging our daughter to try and work things out and was generous with her praise when she did and got things right. Also, Tina wasn't shy of sharing her observations with her if she appeared distracted or wasn't concentrating! At the end of each lesson, Tina gave us headlines on what she had noticed and asked us to focus on particular areas to help her eg more reading. This was extremely helpful for us to gauge her progress. In short, I would recommend Tina and am happy to answer any questions if anyone wants to know more.

Mrs Cyriax - A great tutor. His patience, teaching and encouragement greatly boosted my daughter's confidence and understanding for maths A Level. I could not recommend him enough.

Alice M - My son is doing so well with Jonathan. He is a superb tutor and a great ambassador for your company.

Mrs Elizabeth - James is kind and made M feel at ease even though she is quite a nervous student. M liked him and enjoyed her lessons. James found interesting tasks to engage her to encourage her to speak and improve her English. We were very pleased.

Dr Elmeshad - Susan is a great teacher. She helped my daughter prepare for her GCSE exams both for language and literature. She was really dedicated and spared nothing to give the highest level of care. I strongly recommend her.

Aleesa Mehmud - I have always struggled with English - it was always my worst subject, so it was where I got my lowest grades and had the lowest motivation. But closer towards the exams, I decided to suddenly reach out and get help, and I wasn't sure it would make a difference. However, after every single lesson with Shelley, my nerves were calmer, and I really felt ready and actually enjoyed it. Amazingly, because of Shelley, I went from barely a 6 to a 9 in English Lit, only losing 20 marks across the whole paper! Would recommend highly.

Amanda Barnes - I was really struggling to find ways to help my son with his science subjects when he was feeling demotivated and lacking in confidence. Paul has managed to create a plan for him over the summer which was engaging, clear and pupil-led. He understood exactly what was needed! Plus the video recordings of each lesson will be invaluable moving forward. Thank you Paul!

Location
Online Tuition: Involves a School Entrance Exams tutor on the platform of your choice to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Online Tuition: Allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the School Entrance Exams tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your School Entrance Exams tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of School Entrance Exams tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between online, or small group School Entrance Exams tuition depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
